Kennywood Park began in 1898 as a trolley park that catered to local industrial workers and their families. Originally built at the end of a trolley line to encourage ridership, the park began to generate more revenue than the trolley business itself.

The park is locacted near Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, in the borough of West Mifflin. Kennywood ranked second in the category of “Favorite Park” in Theme Park Magazine’s 2004 Reader’s Choice Awards.

The park features thirty-one major rides, including three water rides, three classic wood coasters, “Phantom’s Revenge” steel coaster, and a one-of-a-kind indoor coaster,the “Exterminator”. “Kiddieland” offers 14 “just for kids” rides. Plus, the park offers 40 games, seven gift shops and two arcades! Kennywood is also famous for their fresh cut french fries at the “Potato Patch” stand.

Entertainment includes the “All American High Dive Show”, the “Celebrate America Festival”, an early July event with craft booths, parade, and fireworks and Fall Fantasy Parades which run from mid August thru September.

Kennywood is one of two amusement parks listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is also one of the few amusement parks that still allow guests to bring their own picnic lunch into the park.

The Great Escape and Splashwater Kingdom are part of the Six Flags chain of theme parks, located in Queensbury, New York, near Lake George, and 60 miles north of Albany.

The park is divided into several sections, each with it own theme. “Fest Area” features rides like the “Alpine Bobsleds”, “Raging River” water ride, “SkyCoaster”, and the “Comet”, a world-class wooden roller coaster. “Ghosttown” is an Old West village featuring three rollercoasters: the “Steamin’ Demon”, the “Canyon Blaster”, and “Nightmare at Crack Axle Canyon”. “International Village and Storytown” retains some of the elements from earlier days at the park and features the “Boomerang” rollercoaster.

“Looney Tunes National Park” is the kiddie ride area and features the “Road Runner Express” roller coaster. “Splashwater Kingdom” is the internal waterpark with water slides, wave pool, and a childrens play area.

Throughout the park you’ll find themed food concessions, games and shopping. In addition the park offers a wide variety of entertainment. Looney Tunes characters and Justice League superheros roam the park, and regularly scheduled shows round out entertainment options here.

Six Flags Over Georgia is part of the Six Flags chain of theme parks, located a few miles west of Atlanta, in Austell, Georgia. Like most theme parks, Six Flags prides itself on its roller coaster collection, and this park boasts 14 coasters… “Dahlonega Mine Train”, a steel coaster; “the Great American Scream Machine” opened as the world’s tallest and fastest roller coaster at a height of 105 feet and speeds of 57 miles per hour; “Mindbender”, a terrain-following looping steel coaster, “Georgia Cyclone”, a world class wooden coaster and Six Flags steel coaster staples, “Batman – The Rise” and “Superman”.

Six Flags America is part of the Six Flags chain of theme parks, located in Largo, Maryland, 15 miles east of Washington, DC and 30 miles southwest of Baltimore, Maryland. The themed sections of the park include: “Olde Boston”, “Looney Tunes Movie Town”, “Southwest Territory”, “Nantucket”, “Gotham City”, “Skull Island”, “Coyote Creek” and “Hurricane Harbor” (water park)

Opened in 1846, Lake Compounce is the oldest, continuously operating amusement park in North America. Located in Bristol, Connecticut, the park features four roller coasters and close to forty rides. “Boulder Dash”, is a 4,700 foot long wooden roller coaster designed to take advantage of Lake Compounce’s hilly terrain and forested scenery. “Wildcat” is one of the oldest continually operating wooden roller coasters in the world.

The park also includes “Splash Harbor”, a large water park located on the lakeshore. The water park includes several slides, a wave pool, a lazy river, and an interactive complex. It is currently the largest water park in Connecticut.

Kings Dominion is a 400 acre theme park located in Doswell, Virginia, 25 miles north of Richmond and 85 miles south of Washington, DC. The park delivers the best of Hollywood entertainment and one of the largest coaster collections on the East Coast; two children’s areas; and “WaterWorks”, a 19-acre water park.

In addition to the water park, Kings Dominion is comprised of 6 distinct areas… “International Street”, the park’s main street is lined with shops and food concessions stands. The centerpiece of Kings Dominion is its 1/3 scale replica of the Eiffel Tower, located just across the International Street fountain from the main entrance gate. An elevator takes visitors to the top of the tower, which provides a chance to see the entire park. The “Old Virginia” area features the “Shenandoah Lumber Company Flume”, “White Water Canyon” river rapids ride, “Xtreme SkyFlyer”, a 160-foot-tall skycoaster, and “Grizzly”, a wooden roller coaster.

“The Grove” is the parks main midway, and is known for the “Rebel Yell” roller coaster, “Drop Zone: Stunt Tower”, the world’s tallest drop tower, and its carousel, which was first built in 1917. “Nickelodeon Central” is section themed after the popular television network, “Kidzville” is another themed section with a variety of rides for younger kids.

“Congo” is Kings Dominion’s African-themed section. Congo’s most recognizable attractions are the “Anaconda” roller coaster, “Lost World Mountain”, and “Avalanche”, bobsled coaster… the only one left in the United States.

Six Flags New England is part of the Six Flags chain of theme parks, named for the New England region in which it is located. Six Flags New England is located a few miles off I-91 in Agawam, Massachusetts. Six Flags New England is divided into two sections: a theme park and a water park. The theme park features 9 roller coasters, including “Superman – Ride of Steel”, “The Mind Eraser”, “Batman – the Dark Knight” and Pandemonium, all steel coasters, and “Cyclone” and “Thunderbolt” wooden coasters.

Funtown-Splashtown USA is a small amusement and water park located right on US Route 1 in Saco, on Maine’s southern coast. The park started out as a simple roadside attraction with a few batting cages and a go cart track. Over the years it has gradually expanded to become Maine’s largest amusement park.

The park features “Excalibur”, Maine’s only wooden roller coaster, as well as “Thunder Falls”, New England’s longest and tallest log flume ride. The park also features a 220 foot tall freefall tower ride called the “Dragon’s Descent”. One of the park’s most popular rides is the Astrosphere, an indoor scrambler that features laser light and music effects. Park visitors claim that Astrosphere is the most unique special effects ride in all of New England.

Canobie Lake Park opened August 23,1902 as a trolley line destination for the Massachusetts Northeast Street Railway Company, and the park has opened every summer since then. Canobie Lake Park is known as one of the most beautiful theme parks in North America because of its flower gardens and well maintained landscaping. The park features over 50 rides including roller coasters, log flumes, a hand-painted antique carousel, a steam train, a giant Ferris wheel, and over a dozen kiddie rides. Canobie Lake Park also offers a variety of foods, prize games, arcades, live entertainment, and fireworks.

One of the park’s mot popular attractions is The Yankee Cannonball, a 1930s era wooden roller coaster. The “Canobie Corkscrew”, a looping steel roller coaster is another popular ride. If the younger ones are not quite ready for the corkscrew then “The Dragon”, a kiddie coaster will be just the thing. The park also features several “dark rides” including “Mine of Lost Souls”, a lost mine train ride and the “Psychodrome,” a scrambler-type ride located in a dome with fog, lighting and music effects.
