Location: Various locations along I-95 in New England
Papa Gino’s is a New England chain of pizzerias specializing in American-style pizza along with pasta, subs, salads, and a variety of appetizers. I’m your typical pizza lover… I could eat it daily if my wife would let me. Of all the pizza I’ve experienced Papa Gino’s is definitely in my top 5. Prices are a little high but they are always having specials deals. AAA members also get special treatment.
There are several Papa Gino’s located just off I-95 exits in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. They also have plans to expand beyond New England… New York, Virginia and Florida. Give them a try!

Jasper’s Porch Lakeside Restaurant is a very charming little place. If you sit on the porch, not only can you enjoy some great food, you can look out on the lake and watch the turtles and gators swimming in the water below. Very fascinating for kids! They have wonderful service and tasty food. Don’t forget to try the fried pickles!

Solo Bella is a very good Italian restaurant. I found this restaurant in my travels. The food is excellent and the service is great. It’s definitely worth giving it a try. I recommend it!

Wow!!! What a great place… we found The Bistro by accident as we headed to the outerbanks. We found it even though it is off the beaten path just a bit.
Talk about southern hosptality! The waitress we had was very friendly. We felt like we were honored guests in someones home, especially when the owner/ chef came to our table and spent some time with us. My family loved the pineapple curry sea bass and the sausages and glazed grapes.
Location: I-95, Exit 36 – Brunswick, Georgia
Matteos is located just off I-95 next to the Best Western. We usually make Brunswick a regular stop on our way to Florida and have eaten at Matteos several times. The food is great here… a lot like home cooking and the portions are generous. It’s a little unusual to find good Italian food down this way, especially right of an exit. I’m fairly sure that the restaurant is family owned and operated. The staff has been friendly and accommodating every time we have visited.
Their menu has is quite varied with something for everyone. They have a large selection of authentic Italian dishes… including pizza, which is also very good. If it’s around meal time and we’re near Brunswick, we make it a point to stop here. I recommend it to all I-95 travelers!
Location: I-95, Exit 1 – Kittery, Maine
Kittery is the first I-95 exit once you get into Maine. The area is a popular outlet shopping stop. Just a few hundred feet south on US Route one you’ll find the Sunrise Grill. We stopped here for breakfast one morning and found a full parking lot. Looked like all the locals eat here. We had a great breakfast at a reasonable price. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. We plan on heading up to Maine again next month and plan to stop here for lunch.
Location: I-95, Exit 2 – Kittery, Maine
Fresh New England seafood, generous portions and reasonable prices. The Weathervane is a small, family owned and operated chain of about 16 locations is Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont and New York. If you’re an I-95 traveler and you want a real taste of New England seafood, the Kittery, Maine location is perfect! It’s just a minute or two off I-95, exit 2. You can travel off the beaten path but you won’t find much better than Weathervane.
Location: I-95 Exit 94, Savannah, Georgia
For shellfish lovers this place is a must! It is the Shell House in Savannah, Georgia. It is right off of I-95 exit 94, when you get off the interstate go west for a couple of hundred feet and make a right. It is in a small area with one of the many motels in the area. It opens a 4 P. M. and time my trips so I can have my dinner there. The portions are tremendous and the food is great. Every table has an opening in the center to toss your garbage into. The service is very good and the staff is very friendly. If you plan on spending the night in the area there are at least seven or eight motels there plus a nice outlet shopping center.
Location: I-95, Exit 152, Dumfries, Virginia
We just happened to stumble upon some great Italian food last night at exit 152 just south of Washington, DC. It’s called “Tiziano’s”. There was live music and they give all the women a rose on Saturday nights. I had spaghetti and meatballs and garlic bread, and my wife had manicotti with a creamy tomato basil sauce that might have had a white wine flavor. The garlic bread was as good as any I’ve had and I’ve had alot. I recommend Tiziano’s to all I-95 travelers!

When traveling on the Interstates I look for good food cooked fast. I don’t usually stop at truck stops but this one time I decided to try the Travel Centers of America Country Pride. They have the best pancakes and coffee I have ever had !! If you ever want some good food stop at Country Pride.
