Shorty’s BBQ is a tiny red stand tucked between a BP and a Wendy’s just off I-95, 2 miles after (or before) you cross the Florida border. Lots of BBQ joints in Georgia get more notoriety, but this one is the best. Just get a simple pork sandwich, pure chopped pork on a bun with just the right amount (not too much) sauce. The sandwich must weigh about half a pound and the price is extremely reasonable. And while you’re enjoying it, laugh at the majority of folks who are pulling into Wendy’s next door for the same bland burgers they eat at home. You can get NOTHING like Shorty’s at home. And don’t forget a tall cold cup of GREAT sweet tea to wash this beauty down!

Shorty’s is by far the BEST BBQ I have ever had. It’s well worth the stop. The smoke taste in the pork is outstanding.
We stop at this place a lot. The last time we did the name of the place was “Blue’s BBQ”
We made a special trip to stop here even though it looked like it is where the local hoods might hang out the BBQ was good, the slaw and potato salad so-so but it hasn’t been Shorty’s four several years (I asked) and the gas station isn’t a BP anymore its a Cheveron.
Was it worth the trip? Yeah, I guess but wasn’t blow your mind good.
I eat at Blue’s all the time, I absolutely love it. Unfortunately “Blue” has had some “issues” come up that prevent him from operating the restaurant so they have been closed. If you want to know what happened google “Larry Harris Kingsland”. It’s too bad, because he had the best BBQ around. Only other place is Sonny’s and that chain is over rated.
Blues, G Daddys,or whatever you want to call it, is by far the best bbq I have ever eaten. My father has a reputation for good bbq and sauce. He catered lunch in Columbus Mississippi for 15 years. I have eaten good bbq but not even Pops can beat Blues. They are now located in the flea market on Pecan Park Road in Jacksonville, Florida. Last word I got it would be another week before they opened up. The number to the flea market is 904-751-6770
Stopped there jan 2011 @ ownership changed again .. Was not good. Has it changed again (jan 2012) as want to stop in again today?
