Dined at a great restaurant on your way down I-95 lately? Maybe you've grabbed a bite at a nice little diner. We would love to hear about it! Just use this form. This forum is dedicated to all those road warriors who have found or are looking for that perfect stop along America's East Coast Main Street... I-95!
Although I didn’t try the chicken, we stopped in Georgia at the Huddle House and I looked over the menu and it seemed to have a lot of southern specialties for very low prices. This is ery different from what I’m used to seeing as a New Yorker. They have chains all over the Carolinas and Georgia, look for signs along the way.
Loves Seafood Restaurant is one of the nicest seafood restaurants that I have visited. They have excellent food and the service is great. The staff was wonderful and the choices on the menu seemed to be unlimited. I recommend this restaurant as a great stop for I-95 travelers!
It was late… we were tired… and all the other restaurants in the area were closed! But a beacon of light with an “open” sign shot out from a parking lot just off I-95 at the Pooler exit and we didn’t know what kind of treat was in store for us! This is a “down home” sort of place with all the fixin’s you’d expect from a truely southern restaurant. Fried catfish, hush puppies and coleslaw were featured on the menu… but so were a ton of things you’d order anywhere from Maine to Florida… something for ALL tastes.
Great food, reasonable prices and outstanding service. You won’t go wrong stopping here anytime… even late at night!
Ever since I was a little kid, my parents would drive from Philly to Disney via I-95, hitting all the Bob’s Big Boy/Shoney’s along the way. There used to be one in Delaware, but I don’t know if it still exists… Other good ones were in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and Walterboro, South Carolina. The food stops were how I timed the (18 hour) trip and how my parents switched driving spots. They had excellent club sandwiches, and never-to-be-equaled biscuits and gravy for any meal, anytime.
Southern Image Restaurant has excellent, home-cooked southern food. They offer a buffet or menu service. We enjoyed the lunch buffet which for adults is $7.95. Dinner buffet is priced at $9.95. The buffet has a lot to choose from but it’s definitely not for anyone on a diet.
The service is great and the atmosphere is special. The restaurant is conveniently located just off I-95, exit 87. I recommend it to all my friends!
This is a nice place to take the family! Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar is a national chain with a great atmosphere, a nice selection and reasonable prices. There seem to be more and more Applebee’s being built and we’ve noted that the menu varies from region to region but some of the more popular choices are common to all. They have also got a great selection for the kids.
I’m a sub man. Always was, always will be. On the road (I’m a salesman) I need good food fast and cheap. Blimpie’s is great food, cheap. I just whip out my Blimpie’s card, order a 12″ Blimpie’s Best and I’m good to go. It’s healthy food too… but that’s not why I like it. It’s just good
We’ve always enjoyed breakfast at the Cracker Barrel. They give you good southern food and good friendly service. They also serve lunch and dinner. We recommend this restaurant for a good hearty breakfast at reasonable prices. The rest rooms are very clean. They have a nice gift shop, and have some very charming country items.
I was surprised to see on the Gourmet section of your web site that no one had mentioned Waffle House! Being a native of Atlanta, Georgia, I became familiar with the uniquely Southern restaurants on road trips. The slogan is “Good Food Fast”, and that’s what you’ll get! From (of course) waffles to hamburgers to grits to hashbrowns (scattered, smothered covered, chunked, topped, and/or diced), the Waffle House menu offers good food at a very low price. Eerily, every Waffle House from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to Daytona Beach, Florida, is exactly like every other one, but at least the food, service and prices are consistent!
We just happened off I-95, looking for souvenirs and dinner. We were recommended a local chain fast food restaurant but decided to explore a little. Came upon Sonny’s Real Pit Bar-B-Q and gave it a try.
Oh my GOODNESS, what a dinner! The pulled pork was outstanding. It didn’t need sauce it was so good. We have been by twice, stopped twice, and were not disappointed. We are hoping one comes up north to NJ.
Sonny’s is located just off I-95, exit 3 (Kingsland-St. Mary;s Road, Route 44) in Kingsland, Georgia.
