Harry and the Natives – Hobe Sound, FL

Comment on this review »

Location: I-95 Exit 96, Hobe Sound, FL

Harry and the Natives is located at the intersection of Bridge Road (Hobe Sound Exit) and US Route 1.

This place has great food, a great atmosphere and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s a family run restaurant since 1941. The son f the original proprietors now is chef and runs the place though his sister and mother are also there.

The tables are under a covered patio, there is a gift shop and the service is excellent but what is best is the food. They have a website: http://www.harryandthenatives.com. Try them if you are anywhere in the area!!

Doo Wop’s Best 50′s Diner – Yulee, FL

Location: I-95 Exit 373, Yulee, Florida

The food at Doo Wop’s Best 50′s Diner is exceptionally good. You can get breakfast lunch or dinner anytime the doors are open.  Generally its pretty fast paced.  They offer a very large menu. They cater, have a hot bar, a salad bar, drive thru, take out and dine in. They have large screen TV’s that shows a variety of oldies movies, I love Lucy, music and cartoons for the lil’ ones, and a gameroom too.

Hats off to these people, they have a clean restaurant, perform well as individuals and are a great team.

Denny’s

Location: Various locations

If you’re looking for a change from the fast-food, eat and run stop, try Denny’s. There’s all kinds of them from Virginia to Florida and many are located just off the exits.

For roughly the same price as a fast-food joint, you get to sit down and take a break and be waited on. One nice thing about Denny’s is no matter which one you visit, the menus and prices are all the same. You can get a full breakfast or lunch for under $5, or a respectable dinner for well under $10. It’s not the Ritz but not too shabby for the price.

Popeye’s Chicken & Biscuits

Location: Various locations

Popeye’s Chicken and Biscuit restaurants are few and far between up here in New England, but every time we travel south on I-95 we make it a point to stop at a Popeye’s at least once. Specializing in New Orleans-style chicken, Popeye’s is the world’s second-largest quick-service chicken chain. We love it! It’s got KFC beat by a mile!

Millhouse Steakhouse

I-95, Exit 363, Jacksonville, Florida

I dined at this fabulous restaurant more than once. I was told by many of my I-95 road warriors friends that it was the best place for steaks on I-95. It has been my 4th time at the Millhouse and I can honestly say you won’t be disappointed. It’s moderately priced for the quality served. I think it has one of the most extensive menus I have ever seen. All quality menu items. This is a must try if you are traveling in north Florida on I-95.

Murray’s Grill

Murray’s Grill has great food, great service and good drinks. They are a little ways from I-95… about 6 miles off the highway (Exit 373) in Yulee, but it’s worth the extra drive. I love it here and recommend it to all my friends.
